You say tomato I say toh-mah-toh

This story began in April with a few heirloom tomato seeds that I bought from Beekman 1802. They grew slowly into spindly seedlings which I then planted into the rock-hard soil and waited for a miracle.

From the original 20 or so seedlings only 5 survived and grew into these…

I’m starting to believe they ate their siblings in order to develop into mutant tomato plants.

These cherry tomatoes are cute but yield like crazy and I’m picking them everyday so they don’t rot on the vine. They are great for Greek-style salads.

  Behold the monster tomatoes…

They’re bigger than my hand!!!

Smiling in the face of fear …

I need to use these before they go bad so expect a cooking post soon. Stay tuned!

  1. We got 11 lbs from our farm share last week. I just spent an hour making salsa with about five pounds of it. Still have three to make use of somehow
